The Association for Psychological Therapies (APT) is a leading provider of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training in the UK and Ireland. Available for individuals and teams, all of the training is accredited by the APT and delegates receive the relevant level of APT accreditation in ACT depending on which course(s) they attend, as well as APT's downloadable resources.
The Association for Psychological Therapies (APT) provides the following training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
A 3-day course.
'Once in a while there is a unique contribution to psychotherapy.'
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) moves away from focusing too closely on ‘symptom reduction’ towards teaching how to live in a stable and rewarding way. So it teaches how to get in touch with your values, how to act in accordance with them, how to be aware of ‘the you that is always there’, how to see your passing thoughts and feelings for just that, how to accept thoughts and feelings you don’t like without over-struggling with them, and so how to live mainly in the present.
Available to everybody.
This exam is available free of charge to those who have attended the APT course ACT Essentials, and for a fee to those who have attended similar training from another provider.
It is a web based exam with a high pass mark of 85% and gains you Level 2 in APT accreditation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. If you don't pass first time you can review the course material and sit it again.
A 3-day course.
This is a course for people who have at least 6 months practice subsequent to receiving Level 3 APT-Accreditation (often much more). In lectures, the masterclass provides more depth on some of the topics in the Essentials course but is mainly focused on developing skill, based around the following components: listening to and making case presentations, watching video demos by others, role-play/real-play where you interview others and they interview you, and establishing a stable system for support and development for yourself in this area post course. The result is that you enhance your skill and technique, not just your knowledge. Successful completion also gains you APT's Level 4 accreditation in the subject.
The Association for Psychological Therapies has delivered training at the following locations (and more) in the British Isles.
The Association for Psychological Therapies offers various levels of accreditation to professionals who have completed APT training (or similar).
